Of course! Village Books is the CLC’s official bookstore. They will be onsite and ready to sell books at 8:00 am the day of the conference and remain until the end of the day. Please note: 10% of the proceeds from Village Books’ sales at the conference is donated by Village Books to support next year’s conference. We love our bookstore!

The para-educator discount is available to classified educators who work in school libraries or in classrooms as classified staff. Complementary titles for para-educators are paraprofessionals, teacher aides or instructional aides. We acknowledge the importance and value of these educators who are not on a teacher contract (not paid a certified teacher’s salary) and encourage their attendance at the conference.

The Conference takes place at the Performing Arts Center on the WWU Campus.

All of the parking lots mentioned below are on the campus map
 
Free parking is available in the “12A” and all “C” lots, off of South College Drive. For directions to these parking lots, enter campus from Bill McDonald Parkway and follow the signs to the shuttle pick-up area. 
 
There will be a shuttle running continuously from 7:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. and then again from 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. to transport you to/from the C lots in the morning and at the end of the day. 
 
Additional limited (free) roadside parking may be available on Garden, North Forest, and State streets.
 
Accessibility Options for Conference – A WWU permit is not required as long as you display your valid state disability placard. You can park in any available disability space or adjacent space. Lots closest to the Performing Arts Center are “9G” and “11G” on the Campus Map

Definitely! Six (6) clock hours will be available at $2.50/per clock hour in addition to a $5.00 administrative fee, for a total of  $20.00. Clock Hour forms and postage-
paid envelopes will be available at the Conference. You can either fill out the form,
enclose your payment (check, cash, or credit card information), and drop the envelope
off in the clock hours bin as you leave the event, or you can take the form and postage-
paid envelope home with you and mail in the completed form along with your payment.

You will need the following to purchase clock hours:

  • $20 payment (cash, check, or credit card info. – although we do not recommend
    mailing cash)
  • Your teaching certificate number. (This is required in order for you to receive
    credit for your clock hours.)
  • Completed form. (Blank forms will be available at the event.)

Once your completed form and payment are received, you will receive the provider
approved in-service form certifying your participation.

In addition, all conference attendees will receive a Certificate of Participation.

  1. Request a purchase order from your school district or administration office. The mailing address to be listed on the purchase order should be: WWU Children’s Literature Conference, 516 High Street, MS9102, Bellingham, WA 98225.
  2. Once you have the completed purchase order, you will need to scan it or have the person that created it send you a digital version of the purchase order form (i.e. Word document, PDF, etc.). Save the document on your computer, so that you can easily find it when you reach the Upload instructions.
  3. Navigate to the Registration with Purchase Order page. After answering some registration questions, you will be asked to upload your purchase order document. Click on the blue folder icon, then navigate to where you saved your purchase order document. Double click to select and attach the document, then click next. 
  4. Complete the rest of the registration. On the payment page you will see “Payment Method” and have the option to select “Purchase Order” and input the purchase order number which should be found on your purchase order document. 
  5. Select “Submit.” WWU will then invoice your organization after the event. Reach out to conferences@wwu.edu if you have any issues paying with a purchase order.

  4. Under “Purchase Options,” use the dropdown menu to select “Purchase Order Submission”
  5. After you have entered the registration information, you will be instructed to “Upload Purchase Order” by clicking on the “Browse…” button to find the PO document on your computer and select it to upload to your registration.
  6. Enter the PO # in the space provided (this is required).
  7. Hit “Next” to complete the registration process. You will receive a confirmation email a few minutes after you’ve registered.
  8. WWU will then invoice your organization after the event.

We have three great lodging options set up for your Friday and/or Saturday night stay. Of course, there are many other accommodations available in Bellingham, so feel free to stay wherever you want!

The CLC Advisory Board is thrilled to offer the 2021 conference as a virtual event! In fact, we have two parts this year. The Virtual Exhibit showcases artwork from previous and future CLC presenters. The Day of Conversations will be an opportunity to engage with the exhibit artwork as a community.

Will there be a book sale and if so, will the books be autographed?
Our local Independent Bookstore, Village Books, has ordered copies of the books. A virtual drawback – no signed copies.

What video conferencing service will be used on the Day of Conversations?
Zoom – an open link.

Can I register on behalf of a group for the Day of Conversations, for example my classroom?
Yes! Register as an individual and when the Zoom link is emailed closer to date, you will be able to share the link with others.

Can I share the Day of Conversations zoom link? 
Yes! The Zoom link will be open.

Will the authors/illustrators be in the zoom sessions?
Some authors and illustrators will join us. There will be no formal presentations.

Will the Day of Conversations be Recorded?
No.
