E. B. Lewis

E. B. Lewis is a decorated illustrator, or artistrator as he calls himself. He has published more than 70 books for which he has won countless awards, including a Coretta Scott King Illustrator award and three CSK honors. Lewis’s longtime partnership with Jacqueline Woodson has produced such titles as Each KindnessThe Other Side, and Coming On Home Soon, for which he received a Caldecott Honor. His recent picture book biography of John Lewis, Preaching to the Chickens with text by Jabari Asim was a New York Times and Kirkus best illustrated book and a Golden Kite Honor.

When Linda Sue Park was nine years old, she published her first haiku in a children’s magazine.  It earned her a dollar, which she gave to her father for Christmas.  Since then, Park has published a collection of poetry, multiple picture books, and a plethora of novels for young people such as Forest of Wonders and A Long Walk to Water.  Her renowned work, A Single Shard, won the 2002 Newbery Medal and was an ALA Best Book for Young Adults.  Park’s newest novel, Prairie Lotus, has recently been published to wide acclaim.

Laini Taylor
Laini Taylor

Laini Taylor is a beloved fantasy author who describes herself as a writer-artist-daydreamer-nerd-person.  She is the winner of a Cybils Award for Fantasy and Science Fiction and was also a finalist for the 2009 National Book Award in Young People’s Literature.  Her highly imaginative works such as the illustrated Night of Cake and Puppets and the faerie fiction Blackbringer have attracted a following of both young adult and adult readers.  Additionally, Taylor is well-known for her Daughter of Smoke and Bone fantasy series.  Her 2017 novel, Strange the Dreamer was selected as a Michael L. Printz honor book and is frequently taught in young adult literature courses here at Western.

Bahni Turpin

Bahni Turpin has given us remarkable characters–nuanced, indelible, and unforgettable—in books like Children of Blood and Bone, and Everything Everything and The Sun is Also a Star. She won her first Odyssey award in 2011 for The True Meaning of Smekday and won the Odyssey again in 2018 for The Hate You Give. She is a two-time winner of the Audie Award for Best Solo Female Narration. We’re so excited to bring you the CLC’s first audiobook narrator!
